What to expect on your journey to wellness with Klaris Mind

Before

  • Complete our consent form prior to your appointment.

  • You may have clear fluids up to 2 hours before treatment and we suggest having light food (eat up to 4 hours beforehand)

  • Avoid sedatives or anticonvulsant medications before treatment as they may interfere with the effects of ketamine (unless advised otherwise by your doctor).

  • Please arrange for someone to accompany you to the clinic and take you home after your session.

  • In line with our clinic's policy, we kindly ask that any accompanying family members or friends do not wait at the premises whilst treatment is taking place.

  • If needed, a taxi home is acceptable when their escort is present.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery until after a restful night's sleep.

  • We recommend that you bring your own noise cancelling headphones with calm relaxing music and an eye mask. Alternatively these can be provided by the clinic.

  • Filming or photography is not permitted during treatment.

During

  • Treatment is delivered under the care of a specialist Consultant Anaesthetist.

  • A small IV (Intravenous) cannula is gently placed into a vein, usually on the back of your hand.

  • Ketamine is administered as a controlled infusion over approximately 40 minutes.

  • Your vital signs and wellbeing are continuously monitored by our medical team throughout the session.

  • We recommend listening to relaxing music using your own noise cancelling headphones or those provided.

  • Many patients experience gentle changes in perception, such as a light or floating sensation, calm detachment, or altered awareness of time and space.

  • Some people find the experience reflective or introspective, allowing thoughts and emotions to be viewed from a different perspective.

After

  • You will remain seated or reclined while initial recovery begins for at least 1 hour.

  • Our team will check your wellbeing and orientation.

  • Water or tea will be offered, and we encourage rest and hydration.

  • Before leaving, a clinician will confirm you are fully recovered and safe for discharge.

  • You should be fully alert, comfortable, and free from ongoing dissociative effects.

  • You should feel steady and confident when standing and walking before departure.

What happens after?

To achieve the most sustained benefit, we usually recommend beginning with a structured programme of 4–6 infusions, spaced around 1–2 weeks apart.

Once you are satisfied with your progress, we can design a personalised maintenance plan that fits comfortably around your schedule and lifestyle.

Many individuals begin to notice meaningful improvements within the first few sessions, with significant progress often reported by the third infusion. Some individuals observe positive shifts even after their first treatment.
